Raffle Items Provided by Phoenix Police Foundation in Partnership with Local Community
Dear Members and Community Leaders – can you help support the BAP in our endeavor again this
year with throwing and showing the Phoenix Police Department our appreciation through our March
24th Appreciation Event please?!
Here’s where we need YOUR help:
• BAP needs Cash donations to help us purchase food, drinks, tables/chair rentals and possibly a
gift for every Police Department Staff member in attendance (we were thinking Starbucks gift
cards). Checks can be made out to the BAP or to the BAP Foundation and earmarked for this
event if you need/want the tax deduction (the 501 © (3) number will be provided). We are so
grateful that the Biltmore Lions Club has already agreed to be one of our Title Sponsors and
BAP Member Will McEachern, The Esplanade Place and My Sister’s Charities Mike Ilioi of
Biltmore Assisted Living, and The Queens Corn for their cash donations.
• Desserts: perhaps from one of our local BAP member restaurants or Biltmore advertising vendors. Last
year one of our members generously donated cookies shaped and decorated as police officer
shields and the Police Officers loved those. Could someone generously donate those again please?
• Raffle Items: Raffle, Raffle, Raffle…we would so appreciate some great raffle items donated in the
name of the Phoenix Police Foundation and we will provide their tax code for your generous
donation. A BAP Board Member will be calling and more than happy to pick it up from you.
Raffle Items we have secured thus far (just to give you all ideas) are: Rocky Point Ocean View
Condominium for 3 Nights/4 Days thanks to BAP Board President, Phil Tibi; 1 Night Stay at the award-winning Arizona Biltmore Resort; Staycation Day at the Arizona Biltmore Resort Pool; 1 Night Stay in a casita at The Hermosa Inn; 2-night stay with dinner for 2 in the hotel restaurant, Atrium Bar & Grille. Please remember why we ask you to give generously – these Men and Women in Blue work hard
every day and all year to serve and protect our Biltmore Community. We are honored to serve them
one day…
The Biltmore Area Partnership’s Mission Statement is being lived out by actively engaging in this
important civic Biltmore area event…we hope to see you all there on March 24th anytime between 3
– 5:30 pm.
Message From Arizona State Treasurer
Greetings Biltmore Area Partnership Members,
If you know an Arizona kindergarten through 6th-grade student, please remind them this is their last week to enter our second-annual AZ529 Future Career Art Contest! From now until March 5th, we’re asking all Arizona kindergarten through 6th-grade students to picture their future careers and the education they need to achieve their dreams. They can then draw, paint or find a creative way to make an art piece representing their dream job.
Over the last month, I’ve visited several schools including Capitol Elementary and Madison Traditional Academy to let students know about the contest and encourage them to dream about their futures. It was so exciting to know that they’re dreaming about becoming future fashion designers, chefs and firefighters just to name a few.
A total of 14 student winners will be selected from across the state and receive $529 towards opening a new or existing AZ529 Education Savings Plan account. Winners will represent various Arizona counties and at least one winner from a district, charter, private, tribal school, and homeschool will be selected. I’m excited to meet the winners and their families during a special ceremony at the State Capitol at the end of March.
In all, more than $7,000 will be distributed to 14 students to kickstart or contribute to saving for their educational plans beyond high school. You can submit your child’s entry today either online to az529.gov/artcontest or through direct mail. Entries must be received by March 5, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. (MST).
The AZ529 Education Savings Plan offers a tax-free approach to setting money aside for college, community college, vocational training, trade school and other educational avenues for high school graduates. Arizona residents can receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax deduction for contributions made to an AZ529 account each year, of up to $2,000 per beneficiary or $4,000 per beneficiary depending on filing status. Funds earned over time will remain tax-free when used for a wide variety of covered educational expenses. Additionally, friends and family members may add to a child’s AZ529 Plan at any time and earn the same tax benefits for
themselves.
For more information about AZ529, visit http://www.az529.gov. For complete contest details and rules,
visit http://www.az529.gov/artcontest.
As always, if you or your organization require my Office’s assistance, please do not hesitate to
contact us at (602) 542-7800 or aztreasury.gov/contact.
