Message From Arizona State Treasurer
Greetings Biltmore Area Partnership Members
I extend warm greetings from the Arizona Treasury. With the summer season officially here and more families and students enjoying their long-deserved break, this is the perfect time for students to snap a photo or take a creative shot of their dream jobs! It could win them $529 towards a new or existing AZ529, Arizona’s Education Savings Plan.
It’s our first-ever “My Picture-Perfect Career” Photo Contest. Now through July 9th, all Arizona K-12th grade students are invited to pose for a selfie, snap a photo with friends, or take a creative shot that shows their dream career. We’re selecting winners from all types of schools including district, charter, private, homeschool and tribal schools.
All entries must be submitted to our website: www.az529.gov/photocontest by July 9th. The entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges, and I have the pleasure of announcing the 10 winners at an awards ceremony at the State Capitol later this summer. Summer break is the perfect time to encourage all students to continue dreaming and planning for their future careers through the AZ529 Plan. For more information, please visit www.az529.gov.
In May, I also visited the Northeast Campus of West-MEC to talk with students completing their veterinary science program as well as the automotive and specialty trade programs. I encouraged them to continue planning for their futures and how the AZ529 Plan can be used for trade and apprenticeship programs.
I continue to support local businesses throughout the Valley. I attended the ribbon cutting of another local Nothing Bundt Cakes in the northwest Valley. I am happy to see this new location will bring more jobs and economic development.
Finally, I had the honor to be the keynote speaker at the Arizona Lions Club annual convention to celebrate and recognize the 100 years of community service the Lions Club has provided to our Arizona communities and around the world.
In a proclamation from my Office, I recognized the dedicated volunteers who are committed to serving our communities and proclaimed 2023 as the centennial year for Arizona Lions Club International.
As always, if you or your organization require my Office’s assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at (602) 542-7800 or aztreasury.gov/contact. I wish you a safe and happy summer.
Sincerely,
Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee

Embassy Suites Biltmore
The Embassy Suites Biltmore guest suite renovation project finished in mid-March. Many of you saw the new rooms at the February luncheon at the hotel, but if you missed that meeting or didn’t have time for a tour, we invite you to reach out to Zakee (zakee.jones@hilton.com) or Tim (tim.miller@hilton.com) to schedule a quick tour. Phase II of the hotel’s renovation, the re-imagination of the lobby, atrium, restaurants and function space, has been delayed until mid-July, with estimated completion in early 2024.

Arizona Biltmore Golf Club and Adobe Restaurant
Adobe Course Closed For Renovations: Adobe Course renovations are now in full swing with machinery moving earth and crews shaping fairways, bunkers and greens. New irrigation lines will soon be installed on the first five holes that crews have finished shaping. The Lehman Design Group and Scottsdale resident and five-time PGA TOUR champion Tom Lehman continue to manage the construction, making minor tweaks to the design to increase shot values and playability. The course is expected to reopen for public and member play this fall, while the Club’s Links Course will remain open for daily play. For your safety, please stay off the golf course during construction.
New Clubhouse Construction: Construction on the new clubhouse and restaurant is also proceeding nicely and on schedule. Crews have built the elevator lift, walls and stairwell tower and plumbers began work on installing plumbing. The elevator lift and stairwell are central to the design of the clubhouse. Foundations and footings are being poured, followed by the concrete floor. The clubhouse project is expected to be completed next year.
The Adobe Restaurant and Bar ARE OPEN: Just a reminder that the Adobe Restaurant and Bar are open for business during phase two of clubhouse construction for breakfast, lunch or afternoon happy hour. The Adobe Restaurant is a great spot to enjoy a meal, while getting a birds-eye view of clubhouse construction.
Adobe Summer Menu: The arrival of hot temps means changes to the Adobe Restaurant’s summer menu. Soups and chilis are gone for a few months. We’ve added a few new beverage options, including: Deep Eddy Daly $7 and $6 after 2pm (Deep Eddy Lemon Vodka with iced tea), Tequila High Noon in a variety of flavors – great option to take out on the course. Reminder we have $6 Bloody Mary’s, with house made mix, and mimosas all day Saturday and Sunday*- dine in only
Adobe Happy Hour and Summer Hours: Happy Hour starts at 2 pm. Draft specials include $4 Barn Brews, $4 Michelob Ultras, $4 Domestic Cans, and $5 Seasonal IPA; Wine Specials include $5 House White/Red and Bubbles; and all Craft Cocktails are $8. Adobe Spring hours are now 6:30 am to 6 pm daily, with the kitchen closing at 3 pm Monday – Thursday, and 4 pm Friday – Sunday.
No Trespassing: A friendly reminder that the Arizona Biltmore Golf Courses are private property. Use of the golf courses is reserved for members and customers of the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club. Trespassers, including (but not limited to) walkers, joggers and those walking pets, will be cited. Also, please do not enter the clubhouse construction area or Adobe Course at any time. We appreciate your cooperation.

COOL DINING IN LON’S UNDERGROUND WINE CELLAR The return of 100+ degree temperatures in the greater Phoenix area also ushers in a cool reprieve in the form of a one-of-a-kind culinary experience in the underground wine cellar at LON’s at the Hermosa.Beginning June 1 through September 10, the hotel’s signature restaurant will open its private subterranean wine cellar to offer guests and Valley residents a special five-course tasting menu (chef’s selection) for $125/person, not including tax and gratuity. Wine pairings are an additional $75 per person.
Cool (in every sense of the word), the cellar—kept at 57 degrees—is normally reserved exclusively for private events, but based on availability, it will be open for parties of two or more, Thursday through Sunday nights. Reservations for Cool Dining can be made by clicking the ‘experiences are available’ link on OpenTable, or by calling LON’s at 602.955.7878. Seating is limited to 12 guests.
LON’S LAST DROP EXTENDED SUMMER HAPPY HOUR Options for mid-afternoon munchies or a bite in the bar just got bigger and better with some tantalizing additions, including Crab Cake Sliders, Denver Lamb Ribs, and the signature Stetson Burger. The Patagonian Shrimp Tacos, the Megargee Trio of corn chips, warm queso, guacamole and roasted salsa roja, and the ever-popular Cellar Board with a carafe of wine, are ideal for sharing, particularly during the extended summer happy hours, which are daily, from 3-7 pm, June 1 through September 10, 2023.
100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ‘THE LAST DROP’ PAINTING BY LON MEGARGEE
In 1923, the Stetson Hat Company commissioned what may be the most famous cowboy image of all time: The Last Drop From His Stetson, by Lon Megargee, which depicted a kindly cowboy kneeling to give his horse a drink of water from his upturned hat. It has become a hallmark of cowboy culture and an icon of the Stetson brand, as it has been imprinted on the lining of its upscale hats for the past 100 years. While the original oil painting hangs in Stetson’s New York City headquarters, a framed print adorns the hotel’s bar, aptly named LON’s Last Drop.
To commemorate the centennial, The Hermosa Inn will be celebrating with:
100th Anniversary Celebration Getaway: Book two nights in a deluxe casita and get a third night free. Valid April 2-May 28, 2023.
Tip Your Stetson and savor a signature Last Drop or Stetson cocktail for just $5, June 1 through September 10, 2023.
