Greetings Biltmore Area Partnership Members,
If you know an Arizona kindergarten through 6th-grade student, please remind them this is their last week to enter our third-annual AZ529 Future Career Art Contest! From now until March 3rd, we’re asking all Arizona kindergarten through 6th-grade students to picture their future careers and the education they need to achieve their dreams. They can draw, paint or find a creative way to make an art piece representing their dream job.
Over the last month, I’ve visited schools and groups across the state including Smith Elementary School in Glendale, the Boys and Girls Club in Yuma and Phoenix Christian Preparatory in Phoenix to let students know about the contest and encourage them to dream about their futures. It was so exciting to know that they’re dreaming about becoming future fashion designers, chefs and firefighters just to name a few.
A total of 15 student winners will be selected from across the state and receive $529 towards opening a new or existing AZ529 Education Savings Plan account. Winners will represent each Arizona county and at least one winner from a district, charter, private school, tribal school, and homeschool will be selected. I’m excited to meet the winners and their families during a special ceremony at the State Capitol at the end of March. In all, more than $7,000 will be distributed to 15 students to kickstart or contribute to saving for their educational plans beyond high school.
You can submit your child’s entry today either online to az529.gov/2024artcontest or through direct mail. Entries must be received by March 3, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (MST).
The AZ529 Education Savings Plan offers a tax-free approach to setting money aside for college, community college, vocational training, trade school and other educational avenues for high school graduates. Arizona residents can receive a dollar-for-dollar state tax deduction for contributions made to an AZ529 account each year, of up to $2,000 per beneficiary or $4,000 per beneficiary depending on filing status. Funds earned over time will remain tax-free when used for a wide variety of covered educational expenses. Additionally, friends and family members may add to a child’s AZ529 Plan at any time and earn the same tax benefits for themselves. Starting this year, you can also rollover unused 529 funds into a Roth IRA, for the same child’s future retirement! For more information about AZ529, visit https://az529.gov/. For complete contest details and rules, visit https://az529.gov/2024artcontest/.
As always, if you or your organization require my Office’s assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at (602) 542-7800 or aztreasury.gov/contact.
Sincerely,
Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee

Autism Life & Living-Lisa Masters
BAP Members,
As we approach the tax season’s final stretch, I want to extend a heartfelt invitation to support my nonprofit, Autism Life & Living. Your donation not only contributes to our impactful programs for young adults with autism but also allows you to direct your tax dollars through the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit. It’s not too late to make a significant impact and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on your Arizona state taxes. By contributing before April 15th, you can allocate up to $421 for single filers or $841 for joint filers, maximizing the benefits of the tax credit. Remember, these credits can be applied to reduce your tax liability to zero, and any unused amounts can be carried forward for up to 5 consecutive taxable years.
Simply use Code: 22589 on AZ Form 321 to ensure you receive the credit. Your support makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to contribute to Autism Life & Living.
