Message From the BAP Board of Directors

It is with great honor and pride to have recently been elected as President of the Arizona Biltmore Area Partnership (BAP). Originally from Queens, New York I moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1991 and as a 30-year (wow…time flies) resident now of our Biltmore neighborhood, I can honestly say there’s not another city/neighborhood that I would prefer to live. Where else can you experience gorgeous mountain and city light views simultaneously, enjoy a resort staycation yet be 12 minutes away from the airport, go grocery shopping, hit the post office, visit multiple  banks, and start a mountain hike onto Camelback Mountain all within just one afternoon! Upon joining the BAP just a few years ago, I quickly realized that I was among people that also enjoyed the Biltmore neighborhood and the amenities our community had to offer. Attending the various lunch meetings (pre-Covid) was a great way to learn more about our neighborhood and also get a glimpse into the future. In addition, a great way to network and meet new people. Guest speakers are always quite interesting and the size of the meetings made it feel like you’re just having a casual lunch with various interesting individuals such as Phx Police Chief Jeri Williams, Councilman Sal DiCiccio, Biltmore Developers Jerry Colangelo, Mel Schulz, and David Eaton. My predecessor, Humphrey Shin has done an outstanding job as President and I look forward to following in his footsteps. Leading our Biltmore Area Partnership organization in continuing its growth and success shall be my main focus throughout 2021.

Thank you,

Phil Tibi

We look forward to seeing everyone virtually, and, better yet, in person!

BAP Zoom Meeting/Luncheons

We have scheduled a Zoom meeting with our Councilman Sal DiCiccio on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.  Please note the time of the start of this Zoom Meeting will be 11:15

Thank You

Message from Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee

Greetings Biltmore Area Partnership Members,

I hope that this message finds you well. Thank you for inviting me as your speaker at the January 26th Biltmore Area Partnership meeting to address the Arizona Treasury’s hard work for taxpayers. I commend you for your great contributions to the Arizona economy in many key industries.

As your Arizona State Treasurer and the Administrator of AZ529 Education Savings Plan, I encourage families to plan and save for their child’s future education. With savings, students can achieve their education and career goals while decreasing the need for burdensome student debt. That is why I work hard to ensure that Arizona families can save for their children’s future education by opening an AZ529 Education Savings Plan.

With AZ529, earnings grow tax-free. Savings are flexible and can pay for expenses at a university, community college, vocational school, or apprenticeship program. Also, contributions to a plan are tax deductible. The AZ529 Plan offers options to meet individuals’ unique investment style. My team at the Arizona Treasury works with our private sector partners to ensure AZ529 is well-managed and secure. It’s never too early or too late to start saving for college. For more information, visit AZ529.gov.

If you or your organization would like resources or are interested in partnering with my office to promote the AZ529 Plan, please email my office at AZ529@aztreasury.gov or call 602-542-7529. We want to work together to reach Arizona citizens and families.

Thank you for your work in supporting our economy.

Sincerely,

Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee

Message From Steve Chucri, Maricopa Board Supervisor and President of the Arizona Restaurant Association.

To my constituents:

I know we are united when we say goodbye to 2020 and hello to the promise of 2021. Thank you for your kind words and prayers for my recent recovery as I battled COVID these past few weeks.  I am grateful to be feeling better but remain concerned about the transmission in our community. Please take care of your family, friends and coworkers by taking precautions while the vaccine is distributed nationally in the coming weeks.

I had the opportunity to work on Capitol Hill for six wonderful years early in my career. To work in the monuments of our democracy was a privilege I will never forget and will always respect the majesty of our constitution. To witness an assault on this very institution was shocking and shameful. I strongly condemn this despicable attack. Now we must focus on restoring democracy and securing the country. The world is watching.

Today is Opening Day of the 55th Legislature. I look forward to working with the Governor, state and federal lawmakers and my fellow county officials on issues that are important to our shared constituencies, including any amendments to state law that further clarify elections processes.  Confidence in elections has and always will be paramount to me as I have demonstrated through my recent comments and vote.  I will continue to push for an examination of voting machines to further assure the general public that their votes are counted, serving to restore and maintain faith in our elections.

I am truly honored to represent the people in my district and thank you for electing me to another term.

As always, please let me know if I can be of assistance.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Steve Chucri, District 2

Camelback High School

Hello BAP Members!

Camelback has kicked off the new year with energy and enthusiasm as we re-engage our community through the virtual platform.  Camelback is happy to report growing enrollment with 130 more students than the prior year while also having more students pass all of their classes than back in 2019 when we were in person.  We have our eye on growing our CTE programs including Engineering, Accounting, Hospitality, and Real Estate so if you have some connections or would like to engage with us about student interns we would be happy to have that conversation!

We also want to thank BAP Board Member Carla Hancock for participating in our “Camelback Chats” and sharing her story with our students.  If you would like to be one of our next speakers or know a great connection we would love to talk to you!

Looking forward to the day when I get to meet some of you!
