- 🌵 Arizona is a major tourism hub — constant visitor flow creates natural contact points where exploitation can occur.
- 🏨 Hotels and resorts may be used for trafficking — survivors frequently report being taken to hotels, motels, and short-term rentals during exploitation.
- 👀 Frontline staff notice what others don’t — housekeeping, front desk, bell staff, security, and maintenance see patterns others miss.
- 🤝 Community collaboration is key — awareness and early reporting can change outcomes.
- 📞 Arizona-specific reporting matters — SAFE trains professionals using local hotlines and real Arizona case examples so staff know exactly what to do.
One trained employee can change someone’s entire story. A report, a phone call, or documented concern can be the turning point someone needs. 💙

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department is offering financial incentives for homeowners who remove non-functional grass. This helps residents reduce water use and supports sustainable urban living. ♻️🌿
Program basics:
- 💵 $2 per square foot removed (Phoenix homeowners may qualify)
- 📏 Minimum 250 sq ft must be removed
- ✅ Grass must be alive and healthy at 75% density in the area removed
- 🏠 Applicants must be the current property owner

🧾 Volunteers Needed: Free Tax Help (VITA Program)
The City needs volunteers to help residents with their 2025 taxes through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, which prepares free tax returns for low-to-moderate-income individuals and families. ✅

- 🧾 Basic tax prep assistants (FREE certified training provided)
- 👋 Greeters and screeners

In January, Kimberly Yee attended the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry 2026 Legislative Forecast Luncheon, where business and policy leaders gathered to discuss the state’s legislative priorities. She shared her optimism for the year ahead and expressed anticipation for a productive, collaborative legislative session. 🏛️🤝
She also spoke at Heinfeld Meech’s Annual State & Local Government Conference, sharing insights on Arizona’s investment strategy and the state’s financial outlook. During her remarks, she highlighted practical ways families can prepare for the future, including saving for higher education through an AZ529 Education Savings Plan. 📈🎓
In addition, Treasurer Yee recently visited students at Kenilworth Elementary School in the Phoenix Elementary School District to promote the AZ529 Art Contest, encouraging students with the opportunity to win $529 toward an AZ529 Education Savings Plan. She also had the special opportunity to bring her mother back to Kenilworth—where she taught for 15 of her 38 years in the same school district. 🎨💙
