Thank You

To Tina Tamboer, Senior Housing Analyst from The Cromford Report for being our March 23rd speaker. Her talk was extremely informative and timely especially during these unprecedented times. Message from Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee

Greetings Biltmore Area Partnership Members,

I hope this message finds you all well. Thank you for your work in many of Arizona’s key economic industries including hospitality, retail, real estate, and banking.

April is Financial Literacy Month – a time for Arizonans from all corners of the state to raise their financial awareness and learn about wise money management.

With the help of Arizona’s Financial Literacy Task Force, the Office of the Arizona State Treasurer has launched the Financial Education Portal. From budgeting to managing debt, the Financial Education Portal has applicable resources for all individuals who want to grow and improve their financial knowledge and skills. In honor of Financial Literacy Month, I encourage Arizonans to take the time to reflect on their everyday financial habits and explore the free planning tools available to them on this new Portal. You can access this free resource on the Arizona State Treasurer’s website HERE.

The overall fiscal health of our state depends on the financial decisions of our individual citizens. As State Treasurer, one of my top priorities is to encourage Arizonans from all walks of life to put smart money management principles into practice in their daily lives.

I appreciate your dedication to the success of the Biltmore Area. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee

Message From Maricopa Board Supervisors Chucri and Gates

Arizona Expands COVID-19 Vaccination Eligibility to All

Arizonans age 16 and up can be vaccinated at state sites

PHOENIX ‒ Registration at Arizona’s state-operated COVID-19 vaccination sites in Maricopa, Pima, and Yuma counties will open to all Arizonans 16 and older beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Department of Health Services announced today.

“Our goal has been and remains to get vaccine into the community as quickly, widely, and equitably as possible,” said Governor Ducey. “Given a thorough review of vaccination data, anticipated vaccine supply, and current demand among prioritized groups, now is the time to take this critical next step.”

As of this morning, Arizona has administered 2,904,159 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to 1,831,456 individuals, including 1,136,413 who are fully vaccinated. As of Monday morning, there were over 58,000 appointments still available from Friday’s release.

The change announced today advances a hybrid approach that had been based on age and also has had counties vaccinating frontline essential workers. It applies to appointments still available for this week at state sites in Maricopa and Pima counties.

“We anticipate more and more vaccine reaching Arizona heading into April, making it possible now to expand prioritization,” said Dr. Cara Christ, director of the Arizona Department of Health Services. “We have been flexible and nimble throughout, while expanding the availability of state sites to vaccinate large numbers of people rapidly.”

ADHS now opens appointments at 11 a.m. each Friday for State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona State University’s Phoenix Municipal Stadium in Tempe, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, the University of Arizona in central Tucson, and, as of this Friday, Yuma Civic Center in Yuma County.

State sites complement county vaccination programs and the growing availability of vaccine at pharmacies and federally qualified health centers participating in federal vaccination programs. Sites using the Pfizer vaccine, including those run by the state, can vaccinate those 16 and older. The Moderna and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccines, which are allocated to counties, are approved for those 18 and older.

Information about all vaccination sites across Arizona can be found at azhealth.gov/findvaccine. Those without computer access or needing extra help registering can call 1-844-542-8201 to be connected with someone who can assist. Note: You can use the patient portal at podvaccine.azdhs.gov to make an appointment for a relative.

To learn more about COVID-19 vaccines and vaccination, please visit azdhs.gov/COVID19Vacci

One Million and Counting…Last week, more than 1 million Arizonans became fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Maricopa County Public Health and its partners were responsible for administering over 500,000 COVID-19 vaccines at County PODs across the region. With the increase in vaccine supply we hope to offer vaccinations to everyone in the next couple of months.

Vaccine Opportunities

Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) advises checking podvaccine.azdhs.gov each day at 8 a.m. when they open up new appointments because of any cancellations.

ADHS announced last week they will make new appointments available each Friday for adults 55 and older at state-run sites.

Anyone 55 and older can get vaccinated at Glendale Community College through Wednesday, March 31

Closed Events For Grocery Store Workers

Do you work in a grocery store or a store that mainly sells food? Maybe you know someone who does? If so, you’re eligible to get vaccinated! Public Health is holding closed vaccine events for these frontline essential workers.

If you have not heard from your employer about an event for you, or you work for a small market, you can find out more at: Maricopa.gov/COVID19VaccineGrocery

Maricopa County Cares

Over the past year, Maricopa County has poured energy, time, resources, and funding into a coordinated emergency response to the pandemic and to the associated economic fallout. The Board of Supervisors has allocated federal dollars from the CARES Act to support individuals, families, and businesses during this challenging time, including rental and utility assistance, business and nonprofit grants, and more. The infographic below shows some of the ways we’ve invested in the community.

Rental & Utility Assistance: 14,714 Families Helped–$57.43M Total

Business Assistance: 3,357 Grants Approved–$67M Total

Non-profit Assistance: 75 Organizations Helped–$4.pM Total

Food Banks: 71 Organizations Helped–$3M Total

Funeral Assistance: 381 Families Helped–$419K Total

New Rent And Utility Assistance Program

With the CDC eviction moratorium set to expire at the end of the month, Maricopa County is providing a new way for individuals and families to get help with rent or utility payments. The County began accepting applications for the federal Emergency Rental Assistance program. It’s an effort supported by the Board of Supervisors with the goal of preventing evictions.

Camelback High School

Hello BAP Members!

Camelback High School is back in action to finish the year strong with over 30% of our students back on campus while the remaining continue their studies online. We have resumed athletics, clubs and other extra-curriculars so there is a feeling of heading closer to “normal”. With our return to on-campus activity we are seeking opportunities for service projects for our clubs and teams and are also looking for fundraising partners to help finance school beautification projects. If you are able to make a connection in either of these areas it would be much appreciated.

We are close by so never hesitate to call or stop by!

GO SPARTANS!
