Message from Councilman Kevin Robinson
The new light rail extension is here, and it’s running right in front of City Hall! This is a huge step forward for our city’s growth and sustainability, and we can’t wait to see how it transforms travel for everyone!
10th Anniversary of The Leadership Consortium (TLC) Arizona Delegation to the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). It is with great honor that I reflect on this year’s 10th Anniversary of The Leadership Consortium (TLC) Arizona Delegation to the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) in Washington D.C. I had the privilege of co-hosting this monumental event alongside Councilwoman Kesha Hodge-Washington.
In 2024, TLC reached new heights by launching the Leadership Consortium Student Leadership Institute. This initiative empowers students from diverse institutions, including Arizona State University, the University of Arizona, South Mountain Community College, and Tulsa Community College. Through this program, we provided comprehensive support for 18 students, one alumnus, and their chaperones to attend the Congressional Black Caucus, sponsored by TLC.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Michael Kelly, the founder of TLC, for his dedication in organizing a successful delegation to Washington, D.C. His commitment to empowering our communities is truly inspirational.
Additionally, I am grateful to Governor Katie Hobbs for her unwavering support, and I extend my sincere thanks to all the leaders and partners who made this year’s delegation a success. As a co-chair, I was honored to lead discussions on critical issues such as workforce development, supplier diversity, and access to capital. These are the issues that will continue to drive our efforts toward a more equitable and fruitful future.
My dedication to advocating for the underserved, addressing inequalities, and building bridges across communities remains persistent. It was an honor to stand alongside such a distinguished and diverse group of leaders — including State Legislators, Mayors, City Council Members, Corporate Executives, Medical Professionals, Judges, Attorneys, Educators, Clergy, and Community Leaders — who share this common goal.
A special thank you to Tempe Mayor Corey Woods for his incredible contributions over the years, including his leadership of the Arizona delegation and his vital role as an advisor to The Leadership Consortium. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the success of this delegation and the impact it continues to have.
Together, we are making a difference, and I look forward to what the future holds as we continue to uplift and empower our communities.

Message From Arizona State Treasurer
Greetings Biltmore Area Partnership Members,
Wishing you Season’s Greetings and a Happy New Year! As we wrap up my sixth year as Arizona’s Treasurer, my administration continues to achieve historic record-setting performance. It is an honor to serve our great state and work hard for the taxpayers of Arizona.
When I began as State Treasurer in 2019, Arizona’s assets were at $15.4 billion. Today, they have more than doubled to $31.6 billion. These increased earnings are distributed to schools, state agencies, and local governments across Arizona. As these funds come from earnings alone, this means less taxes for the people of Arizona. The Arizona State Treasurer’s office has distributed earnings of more than $4.5 billion since I took office in January 2019. This record-setting $4.5 billion has gone to state agencies, our Local Government Investment Pool clients and the Permanent Land Endowment Trust Fund beneficiaries.
I also visited with local leaders of cities, towns, universities and tribal governments in all of Arizona’s 15 counties to provide an update on how the Arizona Treasury has grown their local government dollars. Since January 2019, Local Government Investment Pool assets have increased by over 140% to a record-high of $7.8 billion. The Permanent Land Endowment Trust Fund also has a record market value of $9.3 billion and will pay out $481.3 million this fiscal year. Of this, K-12 education will receive $447.9 million!
In 2024, I remained committed to enhancing financial literacy through several impactful initiatives. This included presenting to the Arizona State Board of Education alongside members of the Financial Literacy Task Force to encourage the Board to expand financial education in high school. I regularly traveled across Arizona to speak with students, senior citizens and various groups about the importance of financial education and wise money management.
I am also proud to report that since taking over the AZ529 Education Savings Plan in October 2020, AZ529 assets have increased by 53.1% to $2.48 billion. In 50 months of operation, 48,650 new AZ529 accounts have been opened. We have prioritized marketing the AZ529 Plan to underserved communities and families who have never considered higher education. The AZ529 Plan continues to be nationally recognized as one of the best plans in the country as it maintained its Silver-Medalist Rating in Morningstar’s annual national 529 ratings. My focus remains on expanding awareness to reach diverse communities to highlight the importance of saving for higher education, including workforce training, vocational school and apprenticeship programs. It is an honor to serve the great State of Arizona, and my office will continue to work hard for the people we represent. As always, if you or your organization require my Office’s assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at (602) 542-7800 or aztreasury.gov/contact.
