Message From Arizona State Treasurer
Hello Biltmore Area Partnership Members,
September isn’t just the start of another month, it’s the beginning of 529 College Savings Month! It’s the perfect time to start saving with an AZ529, Arizona’s Education Savings Plan, which can help your family save for not only traditional college or university, but also technical and vocational training, apprenticeship programs and even student loan repayments.
Many small business owners like myself depend on a qualified and well-trained Arizona workforce, so I am a strong advocate for education and training that is essential for our small businesses and a thriving economy. With an AZ529 Plan, your money grows tax-free, and the money can be spent on qualified educational expenses including tuition, fees, books, computers and even room and board. Arizona residents who contribute to any 529 Plan can deduct up to $2,000 per beneficiary if they file as a single individual or up to $4,000 per beneficiary if they file as a married couple. Start your savings this College Savings Month at www.az529.gov.
I shared the importance of saving for education with 6th grade students at Douglas Elementary in Tucson this week. They were so excited for the launch of the 4th annual AZ529 Essay Writing Contest, which asks all Arizona 5th and 6th grade students: What is your dream job and how do you plan on achieving it in the future? We will select 20 winners—one from each Arizona county and students from district, charter, private, homeschool and tribal schools to win $529 towards a new or existing AZ529 account. We’re accepting essays now through October 1st at our website www.az529.gov/essaycontest , so please share this contest information with all your families and students you know!
This month, I was also honored to meet with the Kiwanis Club of Glendale and shared that my Office has distributed record earnings of over $3 billion since January 2019 to local Arizona governments participating in our Local Government Investment Pool, State Agencies and Permanent Land Endowment Trust Fund beneficiaries, including our K-12 schools. This is fantastic news for Arizona taxpayers as our investment team continues to outperform benchmarks, resulting in less direct taxes paid by all of us.
I am thankful for your continued support and contributions to our community. If you or your organization require my Office’s assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at (602) 542-7800 or aztreasury.gov/contact.
Have a safe and wonderful Labor Day weekend!
Sincerely,
Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee
Messages From Friends of the BAP
Autism Life and Living, Inc.
Autism Life and Living (ALL) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded in 2021 by a single mother of two young men with autism. As her boys approached adulthood, she became aware of the severe gaps in support services and housing options available for individuals with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD). Motivated by the lack of viable options for her own children and the troubling statistics reflecting a widespread crisis, she was driven to take action and founded ALL.
ALL’s primary mission is to address the critical gaps in support services and housing options for young adults with autism and IDD. The organization recognizes the urgent need for immediate measures to alleviate the crisis identified in numerous studies. However, external obstacles such as societal mindsets, uninformed policy, and limited funding options hinder their ability to reach and serve those in need.
ALL approaches its mission through a comprehensive, holistic approach tailored to the individual needs of at-risk youth and young adults. By providing services that remove barriers to support, reduce isolation, prevent homelessness, and promote healthy habits, ALL empowers individuals with autism to lead inclusive, independent, and fulfilling lives. Their programs encompass inclusion, independence, socialization, and overall well-being, aligning with the evolving needs of the growing population diagnosed with autism and IDD nationwide. ALL’s programs come at no cost to the participants, as 80% fall below the poverty level. We rely solely on the generosity of others through donations, event sponsorships and in-kind contributions.
We are driven to make significant measurable impact for the most vulnerable of our society and ensure they life a fulfilling life with dignity, purpose, and self-determination.

That means 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Arizona’s childhood cancer fighters and families in need. The purchase of each ticket provides funding for a gas card for a family traveling to and from the hospital for cancer treatment AND provides an opportunity to win this beautiful car. Don’t delay, purchase your ticket today!
Care Card 2023
October 20 – October 29, 2023
The Care Card Program, organized by The Arizona Board of Visitors, is the Valley’s largest retailer fundraiser, with hundreds of participating retailers and restaurants around the city and supporting various charities for over 25 years.
How it Works: By purchasing a $60 eCard on the Care Card website, shoppers can enjoy a 20% discount for ten fun days of shopping and dining. The best part is all the net proceeds from the sale of Care Cards give back to the local community.
For the 2023 period, the proceeds from Care Card sales will benefit The Big Pink Bus – a mobile imaging unit that plays a crucial role in providing women throughout the valley with advanced 3D mammograms, ensuring access to superior healthcare services.
