Message From Arizona State Treasurer
Hello Biltmore Area Partnership Members,
I extend warm greetings from the Arizona Treasury. It’s been a busy month at the Treasurer’s Office as we celebrated Financial Literacy Month.
Financial literacy and the basics of good money management are important to talk about with our families, so I was pleased to support the Arizona Council on Economic Education’s Financial Literacy Family Night at Alta Loma Elementary School in the Peoria Unified School District. It was wonderful to speak with many youth and families who understand the importance of financial literacy and learned about money management through interactive break out sessions in a fun, family environment.
I also enjoyed stopping by Junior Achievement of Arizona to visit with 5th grade students to encourage them to start practicing wise money management by saving, spending and sharing the money they earn. It was great to see their excitement as they took on jobs for the day in the ‘real’ world and learned to manage money, so they are better prepared when they become adults. These types of programs are valuable because they serve many students around our state, especially those in the underserved communities, and promote the message for children to save early for their futures.
I was also honored to meet with President Buu Nygren of the Navajo Nation. He stopped by the Arizona Treasury to continue to discuss ways to strengthen our partnership with the Navajo Nation. We talked about our shared values to promote financial literacy and empower citizens across Arizona with the resources they need to best manage their finances. I look forward to working together with the Navajo Nation and President Nygren to advocate for financial literacy and outreach to rural and underserved communities across our state.
Our team also continues to wisely invest and securely manage your hard-earned taxpayer dollars. At the Arizona County Treasurer’s Association Conference, I shared how our office is investing funds for local governments across the state which led to a 76.2% increase in the Local Government Investment Pool assets.
As always, if you or your organization require my Office’s assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at (602) 542-7800 or aztreasury.gov/contact.
Sincerely,
Arizona Treasurer Kimberly Yee

Led by The Lehman Design Group and Scottsdale resident and five-time PGA TOUR champion Tom Lehman, the multi-million renovation project will bring golfers more variety, challenge and length, and feature recontoured fairways, new greens and enhanced landscaping. The original William Bell designed golf course first opened for play in 1929. Throughout the renovation, the general routing and par (71) of the golf course will be consistent with the Adobe’s famous parkland setting. The Adobe Course is expected to reopen for public and member play this fall, while the Club’s Links Course will remain open for daily play. For your safety, please stay off the golf course during construction.
New Clubhouse Construction: Construction on the new clubhouse and restaurant is underway. The new clubhouse will replace the existing event tent and clubhouse, and will also bring additional on-site parking plus landscape improvements. The clubhouse project is expected to be completed next year.
New Golf Shop Is Big News: The exciting news of the Arizona Biltmore Golf Club’s beautiful new golf shop has recently graced the covers and pages of Biltmore Lifestyles and Arizona Golf Insider magazines, and has been featured in the Phoenix Business Journal, Arizona Foothills magazine and on Fox 10 News.
If you haven’t done so already, we encourage you to stop by and check out the new building.
The Adobe Restaurant and Bar ARE OPEN: Just a reminder that the Adobe Restaurant and Bar are open for business during phase two of clubhouse construction for breakfast, lunch or afternoon happy hour. The Adobe Restaurant is a great spot to enjoy a meal, while getting a birds-eye view of clubhouse construction.

Draft specials include $4 Barn Brews, $4 Michelob Ultras, $4 Domestic Cans, and $5 Seasonal Craft Selection; Wine Specials include $5 House White/Red and Bubbles; and all Craft Cocktails are $8. COOL DINING IN LON’S UNDERGROUND WINE CELLAR
The return of 100+ degree temperatures in the greater Phoenix area also ushers in a cool reprieve in the form of a one-of-a-kind culinary experience in the underground wine cellar at LON’s at the Hermosa.Beginning June 1 through September 10, the hotel’s signature restaurant will open its private subterranean wine cellar to offer guests and Valley residents a special five-course tasting menu (chef’s selection) for $125/person, not including tax and gratuity. Wine pairings are an additional $75 per person.
Cool (in every sense of the word), the cellar—kept at 57 degrees—is normally reserved exclusively for private events, but based on availability, it will be open for parties of two or more, Thursday through Sunday nights. Reservations for Cool Dining can be made by clicking the ‘experiences are available’ link on OpenTable, or by calling LON’s at 602.955.7878. Seating is limited to 12 guests.
LON’S LAST DROP EXTENDED SUMMER HAPPY HOUR Options for mid-afternoon munchies or a bite in the bar just got bigger and better with some tantalizing additions, including Crab Cake Sliders, Denver Lamb Ribs, and the signature Stetson Burger. The Patagonian Shrimp Tacos, the Megargee Trio of corn chips, warm queso, guacamole and roasted salsa roja, and the ever-popular Cellar Board with a carafe of wine, are ideal for sharing, particularly during the extended summer happy hours, which are daily, from 3-7 pm, June 1 through September 10, 2023.
100TH ANNIVERSARY OF ‘THE LAST DROP’ PAINTING BY LON MEGARGEE
In 1923, the Stetson Hat Company commissioned what may be the most famous cowboy image of all time: The Last Drop From His Stetson, by Lon Megargee, which depicted a kindly cowboy kneeling to give his horse a drink of water from his upturned hat. It has become a hallmark of cowboy culture and an icon of the Stetson brand, as it has been imprinted on the lining of its upscale hats for the past 100 years. While the original oil painting hangs in Stetson’s New York City headquarters, a framed print adorns the hotel’s bar, aptly named LON’s Last Drop.
To commemorate the centennial, The Hermosa Inn will be celebrating with:
100th Anniversary Celebration Getaway: Book two nights in a deluxe casita and get a third night free. Valid April 2-May 28, 2023.
Tip Your Stetson and savor a signature Last Drop or Stetson cocktail for just $5, June 1 through September 10, 2023.
